MIRI: An Indonesian factory worker was killed after his motorcycle collided with a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle at Jalan Perlis 4-1 Kuala Beram by-pass, yesterday.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said in the 7.35pm incident, victim Kasim Sikki, 66, died at the scene while the 25-year-old male driver of the 4WD was not hurt.
"Initial investigations found that the driver of the 4WD was heading towards Miri city and the victim was heading in the opposite direction but entered the driver's path," he said in a statement today.
Alexson said the victim was believed to be trying to turn right, but the driver of the 4WD coming from the opposite direction was unable to react in time, resulting in a head-on collision.
"The case is still being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he added. — Bernama
