No documents destroyed in FT land and mines office explosion
KUALA LUMPUR: No documents or land grants were destroyed when an explosion occurred at the first floor of the Federal Territories Director of Land and Mines Office here yesterday, said its director Sharez Izuan Md Zaidi.
He confirmed that the documents in the room were safe and there were no casualties.
"For now let the fire department carry out their investigations to determine the cause of the blast," he told reporters after a visit by Kepong Member of Parliament Lim Lip Eng at the scene today.
Also present was Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun.
Meanwhile, Lim urged the public not to speculate on the incident but to leave the matter for the fire department to investigate.
In the 6pm incident, a loud explosion occurred believed to have resulted when one of the 63 aerosol fire extinguishing systems installed in the room, suddenly exploded.
As a result of the blast the door and ceiling of the room were destroyed but no one was injured.
Following the incident, the 1st-floor offices were temporarily closed for cleaning and for investigations to be carried out. — Bernama
