REMBAU: Every State Legislative Assembly service centre in Negri Sembilan has been proposed to serve as the venue to promote Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) to students wishing to take up skills-based courses in the related fields.
State Human Resource, Plantation and Non-Islamic Affairs Committee chairman J. Arul Kumar said the proposal was made due to the fact that the state legislative assembly's service centres have very close interaction between the elected representatives and the people.
"We (elected representatives) will put our efforts to prepare the proposal within a few weeks and will do it continuously so that this offer will be able to reach all members of the community.
"We will also encourage all Industrial Training Institutes (ILPs) to channel their publicity materials to the service centres in order to encourage the interested students to take up skills-based courses especially for those who are weak in academics," he said after a working visit at Pedas ILP here, today.
Also present was ILP Pedas director Noor Ariffin Mohd Ariff.
Arul Kumar said students wishing to take up the courses should only pass Bahasa Melayu subject in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia to qualify them to enrol at ILPs.
He said there were several benefits provided by the government to students pursuing further education in the field of skills including monthly allowances, accommodation/hostels, free meals as well as education infrastructure that were similar to the colleges. — Bernama
