MACC confirms Zahid to give statements on two cases tomorrow

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed that it has called Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to come to the MACC headquarters tomorrow.
Its deputy chief commissioner (Operation), Datuk Azam Baki, in a statement here today said the former deputy prime minister was requested to come to the MACC headquarters at 10am to facilitate in the investigations into two cases.
"Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid has been contacted by the MACC on June 27 and asked to come to the MACC headquarters at 10am tomorrow for his statements to be recorded according to MACC Act 2009," he said.
Earlier today, Ahmad Zahid said he would go to the MACC headquarters tomorrow to assist in the investigation into the funds in a foundation belonging to his family.
He also said that Umno would leave it to the MACC to probe into the allegation that the party had received funds from 1MDB, and that he also believed that the commission would carry out the probe in a transparent manner. — Bernama
