PUTRAJAYA: The Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment Ministry will establish at least four advisory councils in two to three weeks' time said its new Minister Yeo Bee Yin.
She said the establishment of the councils which would comprise experts in various fields was necessary because the ministry involved many technical matters.
"It is the most technical ministry compared to other ministries and I'm not an all-round expert, therefore we need to have the advisory councils.
"In fact, the Deputy Minister (Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis) and I both still young and need to have good advice from experts in each area," she told reporters after attending her ministry's Hari Raya Celebration here today.
According to Yeo, the advisory councils would cover several areas, including electricity generation; science and technology; climate change and environment.
She said, however, no specific allocation would be provided for the councils.
"I believe that many people would like to contribute their ideas ... for those who have retired and have an extensive experience can submit their resume," she added.
Meanwhile, asked to comment on the call made by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli for the government to review its decision to increase electricity tariffs following the implementation of the Imbalance Cost Pass-Through mechanism, Yeo said she would look into the matter after getting the feedback from the relevant parties.
Earlier in her speech at the event, the minister said she would put emphasis on efforts to inculcate three important values among her ministry staff namely integrity, excellence and focus on the future. — Bernama
