KOTA KINABALU: The appointment of three full ministers and two deputy ministers from Sabah in the federal cabinet is a major recognition by the federal government for the state of Sabah, said Karambunai Assemblyman Azhar Matussin.
He said the appointment clearly proved that the ties between the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government and the state government led by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (pix) are no longer disputed by the people in the state.
"Thank you to the prime minister for appointing five Sabahans into his cabinet. This is something that we are very proud of because the posts given are among the main ones capable of bringing a major change to Sabah.
"As one of the PH coalition partners in Sabah, we are proud for the positions slotted in the Malaysian Cabinet. The power-sharing shown by the prime minister is a beginning towards a new Malaysia and Sabah Sejahtera," he said in a statement here today.
Those appointed are Penampang MP Ignatius Darell Leiking who was appointed as International Trade and Industry Minister, Silam MP Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi (Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister), Batu Sapi MP Datuk Liew Vui Keong (Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law), Kota Belud MP Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis (Deputy Minister of Energy, Technology, Science, Climatic Change and Environment) and Sepanggar MP Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman who was appointed as Deputy Home Affairs Minister. — Bernama
