QSR Brands signs MoU with USM

NIBONG TEBAL: QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, the operator of the Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut restaurant chains, and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen their relationship in bridging cooperation in education, training and research.
According to QSR Brands managing director Datuk Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil, the MoU will also enable the company to open one of their restaurants in the USM campus in Nibong Tebal.
"We are also looking to open our restaurants in the main campus in Sungai Dua and also Bukit Jambul in the near future," he said during a press conference at the USM engineering campus yesterday.
Mohamed Azahari said as a player in the food industry, QSR Brands emphasises its specialisation in development strategy so it can meet the expectation of customers.
"We are proud with this collaboration as it opens up opportunities for us in expanding our restaurants in a major university like USM," Mohamed Azahari said.
Representing USM at the ceremony was USM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Asma Ismail while Mohamed Azahari represented QSR Brands.
The collaboration between QSR Brands and USM also marks a significant milestone for both parties as they will collaborate in sharing their skills in developing a micro-credentialing degree in the field of restaurant management.
The collaboration will also open up opportunities for industrial training, internship or job placement and at the same time establishing QSR as a main brand in conducting research in the field of halal compliance, technology and robotics.
Also present at the ceremony was USM legal adviser Dr Khairul Anuar Che Azmi, USM director of business development Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Khalil H. P. Shawkataly, USM engineering campus director Prof Dr Nor Azazi Zakaria, QSR general manager Sharifah Musainah Syed Alwi and QSR head of development (property & technical) Azmel Reza Abu Mansor.
