PUTRAJAYA: There will be no reshuffle in the Federal Territories Ministry, said the new minister, Khalid Abdul Samad (pix).
"I came (to the ministry) not to have a reshuffle. I appreciate whatever has been done and what is important is that the way forward for the ministry is to be more transparent, clean, trustworthy and free of any form of embezzlement," he told reporters when met while on a visit to the Putrajaya Corporation here today.
Khalid, who was sworn as the minister last Monday, said his priority now was to get a bird's eye view of his duties at the ministry.
"I have to understand the duties of the Federal Territories Minister. It is not my job to carry out an investigation," he said when asked about the investigation into the case involving the sale of 64 plots of government land by Kuala Lumpur City Hall to developers.
Khalid said the ministry would give its fullest cooperation to the parties that are conducting the investigation.
"There will be no cover-up. No matter who is involved and has committed a breach of trust. It is an act of betrayal of public interest. If it is proven that there has been an abuse of power and embezzlement, then the individuals involved have to be held responsible," he said.
On Putrajaya, Khalid said the greenery would be maintained and the next challenge would be to improve the quality of the public transport system and tackling the increasing number of vehicles and traffic jams. — Bernama
