My father is a victim of biased prosecution: Najib's son

PETALING JAYA: The 'New Malaysia' is not quite different from the old Malaysia, almost 30 years ago, said the son of former premier Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin said the only difference this time around was that there was another "victim" for the government.
"The biased prosecution that took place involving Najib is no different from the past. Just with a different subject, but the prime minister is still the same," he said, in an apparent reference to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who sacked his then deputy Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was then tried and convicted for abuse of power and sodomy.
Najib, the sixth Prime Minister, was charged with four charges of criminal breach of trust and abuse of power totalling RM42 million, involving SRC International Sdn Bhd at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday.
In a Facebook posting on Thursday night, Nazifuddin said he needed to share his feelings and stated that Najib was once the country's leader and that during the entire 14th general election campaign, his father had been falsely accused non-stop.
"I am saying this not to get sympathy, but to speak the truth for everyone to see and understand. If the suffering of an ex-leader accused can make Malaysians happy, we are ready to face that suffering.
"He is my father, and I know Malaysians know how he was like. If for 42 years he served in the government as a bad person, or if he merely wanted to steal money belonging to the people, I do not think he would have been appointed prime minister all these years," he said.
He also spoke on the police raids and appearance of black maria trucks at Najib's private residence during the fasting month.
"Meanwhile, successive press conferences were made just to incite the anger of the people. Isn't it normal procedure not to reveal information during an ongoing investigation. Or was it done just to humiliate my father," Nazifuddin asked.
He also took the opportunity to express his appreciation to friends and supporters who supported and helped his family.
