KOTA KINABALU: Journalists are encouraged to always place the right objectives when performing the task of disseminating information to the people through news writing.
The Sabah Women's Advisory Council (MPWS) chairman Datuk Dr Tarsiah Taman said such an attitude was important as journalists played an important role and had a responsibility to develop human capital in the country.
"The journalists need to be trustworthy and responsible for every information submitted to avoid misuse of information which ultimately creates confusion among the public," she said in her speech at the 'Riang Ria' Aidilfitri With The Media here last night.
Looking at the role of media that was so important and increasingly challenging in developing human capital and the nation, especially in the advanced and sophisticated information technology era, Dr Tarsiah wanted more young people to join journalism.
Meanwhile, Dr Tarsiah also expressed her appreciation to the media and journalists for the cooperation given to MPWS all these while by covering programmes or activities organised by the woman organisation. — Bernama
