Airasia raises RM300,300 from t-shirt sales in cancer-awareness campaign

PUTRAJAYA: AirAsia Bhd has raised RM300,300 through sales of its limited edition t-shirts as part of its #AirAsiaMAKNA campaign for cancer-patients.
Chairman of AirAsia Philippines Marianne 'Maan' B Hontiveros who is also a cancer patient, chief executive officer of AirAsia Malaysia Riad Asmat and chief executive officer of AirAsia X Benyamin Ismail presented a cheque of the sales collection to general manager of the National Cancer Council of Malaysia (MAKNA) Farahida Mohd Farid at the #AirAsiaMAKNA: The Big Fight Fiesta here today.
In his speech, Riad said AirAsia had many employees who were also cancer patients whose strength and determination were a source of inspiration to the company.
"Since 2015, the campaign has collected RM1 million to help cancer patients in the country," Riad said.
He said as part of the campaign, AirAsia also offered a 20-percent discount on all flights booked through the AirAsia application using the promotion code MAKNA20.
"The promotion is from July 8 to July 10 for the travel period Aug 1 to Nov 22," he said.
Meanwhile, Farahida said the campaign was not only to collect funds but the collaboration with AirAsia also had a positive impact on cancer patients.
"Now, Malaysians will be able not only to fly with AirAsia but also show their concern for others, this is the main reason for the success of the campaign," she said. — Bernama
