Old couple die in 3am blaze

KOTA TINNGI: An elderly couple burnt to death in their shop in Sungai Rengit, near here, early today.
Chong Chin Sin, 70, and his wife, Tan Ah Yeng, 70, were found dead in their electrical appliance shop after the fire was stopped.
The fire also destroyed a motorcycle workshop and a hardware shop. Two vans that were parked in front of the shops were also burnt.
A Johor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said 27 firemen from Bandar Penawar, including seven from the CEFS (Central Emergency and Fire Service Response), were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 3.45am.
The fire was put out at 5.18am.
