Ahmad Zakiyuddin undergoes open heart surgery

GEORGE TOWN : Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman (pix) underwent an open heart surgery at Penang Hospital this morning.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity told theSun that the procedure was conducted at 7.30am by a team of specialists at the hospital.
"The operation will take about 3 to 4 hours approximately.
"Hopefully it goes well," the source said.
It was learnt that the operation was conducted to have a valve replaced after a diagnosis revealed that Ahmad Zakiyuddin had several blockages in his heart.
Last Friday, Ahmad Zakiyuddin was admitted to the Penang Hospital after complaining of chest pain while on his way to an event at Kepala Batas. He was rushed to KPJ hospital and transferred to the Penang Hospital's ICU unit for observation.
In GE14 , Ahmad Zakiyuddin defeated incumbent Datuk Roslan Saidin to win Pinang Tunggal seat and was subsequently appointed as Penang DCM 1 replacing Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon.
