Sungai Kandis by-election on Aug 4

PETALING JAYA: The Election Commission today announced that nomination for the Sungai Kandis state by-election will be on July 21 and voting on Aug 4.
It's deputy chairman Tan Sri Othman Mahmood said the campaign period will be for 14 days and the electoral roll to be used is for the first quarter of 2018 which is updated until July 2, 2018.
"The electoral roll contains 51,230 registered voters comprising 51,217 ordinary voters and 13 overseas voters," he told a press conference after a meeting on the Sungai Kandis by-election at the EC headquarters.
There will be no early voting for the by-election while overseas and domestic postal voting applications would be opened from today till July 21.
The by-election was called after PKR's incumbent assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafie passed away on July 2 from lymphatic cancer.
