Surgery on Ahmad Zakiyuddin successful

GEORGE TOWN: An open heart surgery conducted on Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman was successfully carried out at Penang Hospital today.
Sources told theSun the procedure which begin early in the morning ended at about 2pm.
The 60-year-old has been admitted to the intensive care unit and being monitored by specialists at the hospital.
"Alhamdullilah, the operation was successful, currently he is still unconscious," the source said.
The Pinang Tunggal assemblymen is expected to regain consciousness by tomorrow and will be transferred to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and subsequently transferred to a normal ward in a week.
The procedure involved a valve replacement after a diagnosis revealed that Ahmad Zakiyuddin had several blockages in his heart.
In a statement by his son, Muhammad Amin Ahmad Zakiyuddin ,express his grateful over the pouring wishes and prayers for his father.
"My father is being monitored by a team of specialists doctor at Penang Hospital,thanks for the well wishes and prayers for him", he said.
Last Friday, Ahmad Zakiyuddin was admitted to the Penang Hospital after complaining of chest pain while on his way to an event at Kepala Batas. He was rushed to KPJ hospital and transferred to the Penang Hospital's ICU unit for observation.
The first term assemblymen was appointed as DCM 1 to replace his party comrade Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon who went to contest at Batu Pahat parliamentary constituency in GE14.
