Alert on strong winds, rough seas to remain until Sunday

KUALA LUMPUR: Strong southwesterly winds of 40kph to 50kph with waves up to 3.5m are expected over the waters of Perlis, Kedah and Penang until Sunday (Jan 15).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said the strong winds reaching speeds of 40kph to 50kph and waves rising to 3.5m were also expected to hit over the waters of northern Straits of Malacca, Samui, Southern Condore, southern Reef North and Labuan.
"This condition of strong winds and rough seas is dangerous to small crafts, recreational sea activities and water sports," the department said in a statement today.
The statement also said strong Southwesterly winds of 50kph to 60kph with waves up to 4.5 metres are expected over the waters of Phuket, northern Condore, northern Reef North, Layang-Layang and Palawan. The condition is dangerous to all shipping and coastal activities including fishing and ferry services. — Bernama
