Bersatu entry will strengthen Pakatan Harapan in Sarawak

MIRI: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) plans to expand to Sarawak will further strengthen the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition in the state to prepare for the 12th state election expected to be held in 2021.
PH Sarawak secretary Alan Ling Sie Kiong said, Bersatu's intention to spread its wing to Sarawak is a normal political process as other political parties such as the DAP, PKR and Amanah have expanded to serve the people in the state.
"It should be viewed positively in line with the new political development at the national level as well as at the state level after the 14th General Election (GE14)," he said in a statement here yesterday.
Ling said people should not view Bersatu as Umno because Bersatu had a different political agenda with the main intention of serving the interest of the people together with DAP, PKR and Amanah.
On June 25, the Prime Minister who is Bersatu chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad after chairing a meeting of the Bersatu supreme leadership council in Petaling Jaya announced that the party might expand to Sarawak "to fulfil the wishes of the people in the state". — Bernama
