Candidate for Dewan Rakyat Speaker finalised: Wan Azizah

PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) has finalised the candidate for Dewan Rakyat Speaker, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Women, Family and Community Development Minister said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would announce the name of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker either today or tomorrow.
"Yesterday we (PH) held a meeting and only one candidate," she said after chairing the National Welfare Foundation Trustees Board meeting at the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development here today.
Parliament will sit for the first time after the 14th General Election on Monday (July 16).
Among the names previously mentioned as candidates for the post were former Socio Cultural advisor to the Barisan Nasional government Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim and DAP veteran and Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang. — Bernama
