KUALA LUMPUR: A teen was among 44 people arrested when police raided a 'wild party' which offered drugs, alcohol and other vice activities in the city.
City police chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said investigations revealed that the organisers had advertised the vice parties through Wechat, where partygoers would purchase tickets priced at RM100 and RM200.
"The party organisers will plan their parties at various locations to avoid our detection. Some 68 party-goers including a 14-year-old Indonesian girl were detained in two separate raids conducted on July 3 and July 6. All tested positive for drug abuse.
"The raids were conducted at two condominium units at Jalan Ceylon and Jalan Ampang," he told reporters at the city police headquarters, here today.
Mazlan said the condominiums were apparently being rented for between RM600 and RM1,300 per day.
"Police seized 4,000 erimin 5 pills, 19 ecstasy pills and 2.6g of ketamine, all estimated around RM60,000.
"The city police are monitoring the situation and we are watching you (rave party organisers)," he added.
Mazlan said such parties are illegal and against the law and offenders will be liable to legal action under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, in a separate drug bust, police detained three Vietnamese women and a local man after they were caught red-handed packaging drug-laced powdered drinks at a condominium unit along Jalan Galloway on July 5.
They were detained at about 7.20pm and police seized various types of drugs, including 12kg of ecstasy, 90 erimin 5 pills and ketamine, valued at RM1.06 million.
Mazlan said the drugs were meant for local entertainment outlets and could cater about 40,000 addicts.
"This is becoming a habit in the city and we are serious about this matter. Enough is enough, and so far we closed down three entertainment outlets which is believed to be involved in catering the drug-laced drinks," Mazlan stressed.
The four individuals are aged between 23 and 35 and they have been remanded until this Thursday.
