KUALA LUMPUR: Billionaire financier Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, has left Macau for an unknown destination, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun confirmed today.
"We received an email from our Macau counterparts two days ago that fugitive Jho Low has left Macau for an unknown destination.
"They did not mention the date he left and our Immigration director Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali yesterday said they believe he has multiple passports or passes," he told reporters after attending a blood donation programme held in conjunction with the 211th Police Day celebration at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here today.
Mohamad Fuzi said with the latest development, it would be tougher to track down Low.
Police today said they have so far informed seven countries through the Interpol red notice on Low being sought over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal.
Police had sent a team to Hong Kong recently, but unfortunately Jho Low had left for Macau.
Meanwhile, at the blood donation event, Sergeant-Major Mohd Zaini Ahmad was named the police's top blood donor with a record of 260 donations made to the National Blood Centre.
Mohd Zaini, who is in his 50s, was among the three policemen who received awards from Mohamad Fuzi as the force's top blood donors.
A total of 400 policemen participated in the annual drive held in conjunction with Police Day celebration.
