PETALING JAYA: A Turkish wedding photographer admitted to beating up a client after learning that the man was marrying a 15-year-old girl in Malatya province's Turgut Özal Nature Park in Turkey on July 5.
The photographer, Onur Albayrak, was declared a hero on social media after local media reported that he tried to stop the wedding as he learned of the bride's age.
Marriage is illegal for both men and women under 18 in Turkey.
"Yes, the reports are correct. A child bride means child abuse, and no force in the world can make me photograph a child as a bride," Albayrak said in a post on his Facebook account on July 7 and also added that he had no regrets for his actions.
Albayrak learned of the bride's age on July 5 as he noticed that she looked very young, and decided to inquire about her age with the groom.
He was furious upon learning that he was photographing a child wedding and soon started to fight with the groom, in which the groom's nose was broken.
"The groom had come to my studio some two weeks ago and was alone. I saw the bride for the first time at the wedding. She's a child, and I felt her fear because she was trembling. The groom attacked me as I was leaving."
