MACC arrests ex-special aide to Rosmah

PUTRAJAYA: An ex-special aide to Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor who was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Monday for alleged corruption involving the RM1.25 billion solar-power panel project meant for 369 schools in Sarawak is expected to have his remand order extended.
MACC director of investigations Datuk Simi Abdul Ghani told theSun today that the four-day remand order on the 44-year-old man ends on Friday but investigators might seek a extension to detain him further for the probe.
The ex-aide of the wife of former premier Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak was arrested on Monday at about 7pm are after he was summoned for questioning by investigators.
Sources said he was held for allegedly accepting RM300,000 from a man who holds the title of Datuk as part of an inducement related to the project.
The cash is said to have come from a Bintulu-based company undertaking the installation of the solar-power panels for the schools.
Two weeks ago, a managing director and a lawyer, aged 59 and 30 respectively were arrested by the MACC over the case and remanded for six days.
It was reported that cronyism is believed to be behind the project being awarded to the company without undergoing an open tender process in line with government regulations.
