Penang PPBM chief admits being a senator candidate

BUTTERWORTH: Penang Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chief Marzuki Yahya has revealed that he is one of the candidate from the party that will be appoint as a senator in the next Dewan Negara sitting.
He however said he was not sure whether the appointment has got to do with him being ascended to a deputy minister positions that are currently vacant in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) new cabinet.
"It is all up to the leadership,we'll just wait for the announcement", he told reporters after the state party Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Dewan Besar Sungai Dua here yesterday.
Marzuki said his appointment as senator will be made under PH PPBM quota for the position.
Marzuki was rumoured to be appointed as Deputy Foreign Minister through senatorship after he lost narrowly to Umno Datuk Shabudin Yahaya in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Other deputy minister position that is still vacant are defence and education.
Meanwhile Marzuki calls Umno member to join PPBM as the party they are in now is no longer relevant to their struggle.
He said PH win in GE14 signify the people rejection toward the Malay party as the country moving towards the new direction and future.
He said enrolment of new PPBM member through online application has been recorded 1000 everyday since the day PH took over the federal government.
"Come and join us, Umno is no longer relevant to the Rakyat," he said.
