PETALING JAYA: A seafood restaurant operator has been ordered to pay Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah RM10,000 in cost after she withdrew her suit against him.
Lee Lee Sin filed a RM500,000 defamation suit against Ean Yong on Oct 17, 2017, for allegedly uttering and writing defamatory statements that had hurt her reputation and credibility.
She was asked to make the payment within seven days from July 9.
Lee, whose family runs Restoran Ocean Seafood, claimed that Ean Yong defamed her as the bona fide operator of the restaurant which was at Lover's Bridge jetty in Tanjung Sepat.
Ean Yong was said to have claimed she was merely a landlady collecting thousands of ringgit worth of monthly rent and profiting from the actual restaurant operator.
“I feel vindicated by her action, I was ready to see her in court as I had not defamed her,” Ean Yong said.
