Man sent to jail again for possession of terrorist-related items

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man who was jailed for 18 months for possession of terrorist-related items in 2016 was sentenced to another six years today for a similar offence.
High Court Judge Datuk Azman Abdullah imposed the sentence on Muhammad Sani Mahdi Sahar, 25, a former Al-Quran teacher, after he changed his plea to guilty.
The court sentenced him to three years in jail for the three charges, respectively.
Azman ordered the jail terms for first and third charges to run concurrently from the date of arrest on Dec 23, 2017, while the jail term for the second charge to start after he had finished serving the three years jail.
On June 26, Muhammad Sani pleaded not guilty in the High Court on three counts of possessing the items at the entrance to Block 3, Apartment Desa Mentari and at a unit of the apartment in Jalan PJS 5/12, Petaling here, between 5.15 and 5.30pm on Dec 23, 2017.
All the charges were made under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code which provided an imprisonment for seven years, or fine, and shall also be liable to forfeiture of the affected items, if found guilty.

On March 24, 2016, Muhammad Sani was sentenced to 18 months' jail by the High Court after he pleaded guilty to possessing 39 items of video-recordings on terrorism. — Bernama
