More than 70 children from the Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Damai, Kuang and their caretakers gathered at the entrance of Sunway Lagoon last Sunday for a fun-filled day at the theme park.
Although this was not the first time the theme park had hosted underprivileged children, it was the largest “party” of such treated by the Sunway team, to a full day of fun and entertainment at the exciting venue.
The day began with a Sunway Lagoon warm welcome and dance performance at the entrance of the park.
Gasps of delight were in the air as Captain Quack and Lady Quack, the Sunway Lagoon mascot couple, came into view dressed in traditional garb.
The visitors comprised of boys and girls aged between 3 and 19.
After a meet-and-greet plus photo session, the children were ushered into the Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park for a personalised tour.
They were all eyes and ears given the chance to have a close look at more than 150 animal species of animals, from the white tigers Samson and Asha to the white lions Zola and Zuri, panthers, white gibbons, the black-eared marmoset and many more.
There was also a chance to feed rabbits and guinea pigs, pet chickens and turtles, even learn to fish using a net.
As noon approached, it was time for the Wildlife Multi-Animal Show at the Wildlife Theatre where more animals were introduced and discovered.
It was to the Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon next, Asia’s first Nickelodeon-themed amusement park SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star, who were in traditional wear, gladly posed for photographs with the young guests.
The day was far from over as the entourage headed to the Surf Deck for lunch, games, as well as a surprise birthday celebration.
Adding to the day of non-stop excitement, each child was also presented with a Kool Raya goodie bag of gifts by the Sunway Lagoon department heads.

It wasn’t time for goodbye yet as and fun and festivities carried on with the children got the carte blanche to enjoy all the Sunway Lagoon theme park had to offer for the rest of that day.
