Police nab 99 individuals in Cheras night club raid

KUALA LUMPUR: Police detained 99 people including foreigners at a night club in Shamelin, Cheras here early Sunday.
Cheras acting district police chief Supt Kamal Khan Mohd Shariff said the individuals, aged 18 to 40, were among 134 patrons who were inspected in the 14-hour operation which ended at 7pm.
He said the night club, which had been raided by the authorities on four previous occasions last year, was shut down temporarily but was reopened for business a month ago under a new management.
"Following public tip-off, a team from Bukit Aman Special Tactical and Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) mounted a raid on the premises at about 4.40am.
"The 99 individuals include Germans, Vietnamese and Thai nationals who were detained for drug-related offences. Four Vietnamese women were picked up for violating Immigration rules," he said in statement here today.
Kamal Khan said a check in the server room of the premises led to the discovery of a speaker containing 211g of powder believed to be ecstasy, 192g of ganja, over 6g of ketamine, 32 ecstasy pills and 30 Erimin 5 pills estimated to be worth RM13,600.
The discovery of the substances was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added. — Bernama
