KUALA LUMPUR: The gathering organised by Pemantau Malaysia Baru for a march to Parliament to protest what they claim are efforts by DAP to make Christianity an official religion will be investigated under the Peaceful Assembly Act.
City police chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the organisers failed to adhere to the said act and notify the police regarding the assembly.
"Yes there was an assembly but we managed to control the situation. However, the organisers did not give us the notice of the assembly.
"We will investigate for assembling without notice under Section 9 (1) Peaceful Assembly Act and we will call in the organisers for their statement to be recorded," he said during a press conference at the Bukit Jalil police station.
The group of about 50 people who gathered claim to support the Yang di-Pertuan Agong whom they allege has lost his voice in defending Malays and Islam.
The group was led by Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam.
Last week, Lokman reportedly claimed that the protesters would march to Parliament with their mouths covered by tape and hands bound, a symbol to imply the purported loss of power experienced by the Agong.
