JITRA: It was a case of being caught by the police or jumping into a river, and a 39-year-old man did what he thought was best – jumping into a river.
However, it turned out to be a tragedy as the man, a police suspect, drowned after jumping into a river while trying to flee the long arm of the law last night.
His body was found at 9.44am today, after an almost 15-hour search involving 11 personnel, said the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre Chief, Supt Zamani Ismail.
"We received a call and rushed to the location based on information from the police that a suspected man may have drowned in the river while trying to escape a police raid yesterday afternoon.
The victim's body was taken to Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for a post-mortem. — Bernama
