KUALA LUMPUR: A 53-year-old teacher of a primary school in Ampang near here was arrested by police for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old female student under his care last month.
The man who allegedly has a history of molesting his students since 2011 was arrested at 2pm.
Selangor police CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said yesterday that police will seek a remand order against the suspect today to detain him for further investigations.
He said records show that the suspect was arrested in 2011 for a similar offence when he was a teacher at a school in Kajang.
Fadzil said police could not proceed with the case as the complainant had retracted her police report.
He urged those who had fallen victim to the suspect in the past to not keep silent but to come forward and lodge police reports against the man.
It is learnt that the suspect was transferred out of a primary school in Kajang and was posted to his current school.
On June 16, the mother of a Year Four student lodged a police report alleging her daughter was weeks earlier molested by the suspect in a co-curriculum room.
The teacher allegedly lured the girl into the room before forcing her to sit on his lap.
The suspect then allegedly touched the child's chest, private parts and thighs.
Police learnt that the incident was witnessed by three other students.
Several other students are also said to have come forward alleging their had suffered the same fate in the hands of the suspect.
