Warrants of arrest on two ex-1MDB executives

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained arrest warrants on two former senior officers of the state-investment arm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) today.
MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki when contacted by theSun today confirmed that arrest warrants have been issued against the company's general counsel and executive director of group strategy Jasmine Loo Ai Swan aged 45 of Damansara Heights, and executive officer Casey Tang Keng Chee aged 53 of Taman Seri Endah, Kuala Lumpur.
It is believed that the former officers are abroad after leaving the country about three years ago, just months before investigations into the 1MDB were initiated.
Both the sought ex-officers are said to be appointed and closely associated with financier and fugitive Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low - the No. 1 person-of-interest in the multi-billion ringgit 1MDB probe. They had been sought by the MACC since 2016.
The ongoing investigations on 1MDB have passed the halfway mark but the only glitch appears to be the absence of several key individuals who had absconded in the wake of the probe.
Investigators have sought the assistance of Interpol to track them down and are hopeful they will be traced.
