KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran politician Tan Sri Rais Yatim has questioned the Education Ministry's move to allow students to wear black shoes to school beginning 2019.
"What's the importance of students nationwide having to change (their shoes) to black?
"Are there not more pressing matters to address? The shoes' producers will certainly be delighted as they will stand to benefit (for) a demand of RM350 million to RM400 million from 7 million students.
"Isn't disciplinary issues more important? Not black school shoes!!!" he said via his Twitter account @DrRaisYatim today.
Yesterday, Education Minister Maszlee Malik said students will wear black shoes to school next year following a request from parents.
