Trader pleads not guilty to possession of 3,000kg LPG without licence

KUALA LUMPUR: A trader pleaded not guilty at the sessions court here today with having in his possession of 3,000 kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) without a licence three years ago.
Soong Kok Meng, 52, made the plea before judge Wan Mohd Norisham Wan Yaakob.
The man was charged with possession or control of the LPG, which is categorised under the scheduled item, in suspicious circumstances and with an intention to commit an offence under Regulation 3 (1) of the Control of Supply Regulations 1974.
The offence was allegedly committed at a house in Jalan Liku Mata Air, Taman Genting, Jalan Genting Klang, here at 2.30pm on May 18, 2015.
The charge, under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and punishable under Section 22 (1) of the same Act, provides a fine of up to RM1 million or imprisonment for up to three years, upon conviction.
Prosecuting officer from the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, Janawatul Fieza Hamisan prosecuted, while Soong was not represented.
The court fixed Aug 29 for mention. — Bernama
