IPOH: Perak's government departments and agencies are urged to be more proactive in addressing issues faced by the people.
State Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said relevant authorities should not be waiting for complaints, but should discharge their duties and look for any arising issue before it is reported by the people.
"I hope the state government departments including the City Hall, District Councils, Welfare Department, Islamic Religious Council, Fire and Rescue Department should be proactive so people realise that this government cares for them.
"There is no need to wait for the people to lodge complaints, we look for it ourselves then there will be an impact, I already communicate with these departments so that they could perform their duties better," he told reporters after attending an event with the people of the Sungai Rapat state constituency, here today.
Mohammad Nizar, who is also Sungai Rapat assemblyman, said there would be a delay in resolving a particular problem if the related departments and agencies were still waiting for the people to lodge a complaint before carrying out their duties.
"If everyone from the executive council members, Mentri Besar to the head of departments are more alert, any problems can be resolved better because if you wait for the people to lodge a report first, the problem would be piled up.
"For instance, the issue of clogged drain, it does not happen in one or two months but it took years of debris build-up to become blocked then after heavy rainstorms different problem will arise," he said.
At the event, Mohammad Nizar also presented a contribution of essential necessities to 30 eligible recipients. — Bernama
