KOTA KINABALU: Staff of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, especially in Sabah, were today urged to give their undivided support to the new government led by Pakatan Harapan (PH) to bring more changes, thus ensuring the success of the government's administration.
Its minister, Gobind Singh Deo said there should be cooperation among agencies under the ministry, including RTM; Information Department and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) to ensure smooth dissemination of information on government policies.
He said he would visit the offices of all agencies under the ministry in all states to discuss and obtain feedback on the best way or approach to improving the quality of their services.
"This is a responsibility which we have to shoulder because the society will only know about the government's achievements through information provided by us.
"We also have to be united in an effort to improve the quality of our services to the people," he said in his speech during a visit to the Sabah Communications and Multimedia Ministry here today.
Also present were the ministry's secretary-general Datuk Dr Mohd Ali Mohamad Nor; Bernama chief executive officer Datuk Zulkifli Salleh; Sabah Information director Norzawiyah Bulka and Acting Sabah Broadcasting director Malinaziah Datu Mohd Julaspi.
Gobind also reminded staff of the ministry to change their way of thinking and also to keep abreast with new technology to enable them to compete with the revolution in the broadcasting industry and news publication.
The ministry, he said, would also continue to uplift the production of local works by setting up a special panel to decide on the disbursement of funds to local talents in the production of documentaries or films.
The move is necessary as every state has its own cultural values and stories to highlight, he added. — Bernama
