144 drug addicts detained in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) detained 144 drug addicts, including a drug distributor in several operations conducted in the state.
According to its spokesman, in the operations which began on July 13 until last night, 167 people were checked and 144 found to be addicts and one a drug distributor.
"In the operations, Penang AADK aided by Putrajaya AADK and the Penang Fire and Rescue Department conducted raids on seven drug addict locations and entertainment centres," he said here today.
He said among those detained was a drug distributor who had been on the wanted list since last year.
He added that all those detained were between the ages of 18 and 60, and urine tests conducted on them were positive for various types of drugs. — Bernama
