Boy who fell at babysitter's house dies

TANGKAK: The police will seek an order to extend the remand of a 35-year-old woman who was detained for allegedly neglecting a 10-month-old boy who was in her care when the baby died today.
The baby, Naufal Amsyar Nabil Fikri, died at about 9am at Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, four days after he was admitted there, allegedly for seizure attacks.
The boy was alleged to have fallen at the babysitter's house at Taman Sialang here.
The police detained the woman after it was found there were serious injuries on the boy, including old and new bruises on the forehead and a cracked skull.
According to the woman, the child fell off twice from his cradle when he was in her care at her house.
Tangkak district police chief Supt Mohad Idris Samsuri said the woman was remanded since last Thursday for investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and the order would expire tomorrow.
The police will continue with the investigation, but whether it will be made under Section 302 of the Penal Code will depend on the result of the post-mortem, he said when contacted by Bernama.
The post-mortem on the baby will be conducted tomorrow. — Bernama
