BATU GAJAH: The state government had never offered to lease out land at the Taman Alam Kinta (Kinta Nature Park) to anyone as the land had been gazetted as a State Park on March 17, 2016.
The Chairman of the State Committee on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Tan Kar Hing said any activity in any area which had been gazetted was unlawful.
"Don't believe in any offer of rent on the park as the area had been gazetted for development as a State Park," he told reporters before inspecting the park, here today.
Besides the Taman Alam Kinta, Perak had three other state parks under the management of the State Park Corporation (Perbadanan Taman Negri) namely the Royal Belum in Gerik, Pulau Sembilan in Lumut and Geopark in Kinta Valley.
Taman Alam Kinta, with an area of 395.56 hectares, received 1,995 visitors from Sept 29, 2017 until April 31, 2018, with various activities that could be carried out at the park including recreation, camping and cycling.
Commenting further, Tan said the Perbadanan Taman Negri Perak (Perak State Park Corporation) received a report that a cooperative had carried out agricultural activity on 10 acres of land last Tuesday (July 17).
Subsequently, the State Park Corporation lodged a police report on July 19 and handed the case over to the authorities for further action, he said. — Bernama
