KUALA LUMPUR: The Mandarin news returned to the Bernama News Channel (BNC) tonight.
It aired at 8.30pm, with the repeat scheduled for 2am.
The Mandarin news and Tamil news were brought back on BNC following a suggestion by Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo on his maiden visit to the headquarters of Bernama, the Malaysian National News Agency, on May 28.
The Tamil news began to be aired on June 11.
Bernama CEO Datuk Zulkefli Salleh, who is also BNC managing director, said all preparations in terms of the technical and staff aspects were made from about a month ago to enable the Mandarin news to be aired again over BNC after the broadcast ceased in 2015.
The Mandarin News Unit is headed by Tan Boon Kooi, he said in a statement.
BNC airs over Astro 502, Unifi TV 631 and MYTV 121 and can be viewed around the world on the website, www.bernama.com, and on YouTube. — Bernama
