Male passenger dies after falling on tracks at Puchong LRT station (Updated)

    PETALING JAYA: A man was killed after he was run over by a Light Rail Transit (LRT) train after he fell from the platform at the Pusat Bandar Puchong LRT station today morning.
    The body of the man was discovered on the rail track, 100m away from the LRT station at about 7am.
    Serdang district police chief ACP Ismadi Borhan said a distress call was received at about 7.51am.
    "Upon arriving at the location, we found the body of a man on the track. Checks found no identification papers on the victim," he said today.
    He added police have ruled out foul play in the incident, classifying the case as sudden death.
    "He was pronounced dead at the scene," Ismadi added.
    "Police are still investigating the cause of the incident, whether the man was drunk or wanted to commit suicide. No criminal element was found at the scene.
    "The case has been classified as sudden death. The victim's remains were sent to the Serdang Hospital for post-mortem," he said.
    Meanwhile, in a statement, Prasarana said, based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage, the man had intruded into the area when the station ceased its operations at 12.30am.
    It said his body was spotted by the train captain this morning.
    "The incident affected the train operation of the Sri Petaling Line as the electricity was temporarily disconnected to enable police to remove the body from the location."
    Operations resumed at 9am.
