KLANG: Two snatch thieves fled empty-handed after their would-be victim held on tightly to her gold necklace the crooks were eyeing on opposite a school here at noon today.
The incident was captured on a closed-circuit security camera (CCTV) outside the SK Simpang Lima school at Taman Chi Lung where the 39-year-old housewife was seen walking towards the school.
Two men on a motorcycle are seen trailing her closely before turning around and riding up towards her.
The thieves pulled over next to her and on the pretext of asking for directions before the pillion rider suddenly lunged at her and tried to snatch her necklace.
When they failed, the men sped off from the scene.

A passing member of public is also spotted giving chase but the thieves managed to escape.
Several bystanders including a female guard then went to the aid of the woman who was at the school to fetch her children aged eight and 12.
Klang Selatan police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramlee said today that the victim was not hurt and did not suffer any losses.
He said police have examined the video footage that went viral yesterday and have launched a hunt for the thieves.
