KUALA LUMPUR: Global on-demand logistics service provider Lalamove, which covers same-day deliveries in the Kuala Lumpur vicinity, plans to launch in Johor and Penang in about six to 12 months.
Lalamove leverages the power of the web, mobile app technology and the sharing economy to match drivers with customers and SME businesses to fulfil same day deliveries. It allows requests for delivery services using motorbike and car.
Lalamove country director Yong Sik Hoe said as the growth of e-commerce continues, the demand for delivery of the goods purchased is growing. Lalamove aims to transform the logistic landscape and launch its delivery app to gear up the Malaysian SMEs and the entire delivery ecosystem within Kuala Lumpur and beyond.
“After a month of testing in the Kuala Lumpur city, Lalamove has achieved deliveries taking under 36 minutes for 5km or less and an average of 50 minutes for deliveries within 10km,” Yong said at the official launch today.
This allows businesses to scale rapidly without being constrained by logistics as well as huge operating expenses.
He added that Lalamove is delivering 300 orders per day and aims to deliver 1,500 orders a day by year-end.
“Food delivery is something that we focus on for now, but in general we try to cater to everyone,” said Yong.
It is now supporting 200 SMEs with 1,800 registered drivers for Kuala Lumpur. Lalamove takes a 20% commission from drivers.
“Users can have access to over 1,000 riders without the need to pre-schedule or worry if the driver will ever show up.
Businesses can also use Lalamove as a back-up for their existing delivery fleet. We go straight from the pick-up to destination,” he said.
The Lalamove platform is built with real-time GPS tracking, 24/7 services as well as driver ratings to ensure customers have constant overview of their delivery.
Delivery is charged based on distance travelled, not weight, with price as low as RM5 for an immediate delivery. This leads to reduction of overhead, helping businesses reduce over 70% of the delivery and operational cost while giving businesses better control of their delivery needs.
Founded in Hong Kong, Lalamove has presence in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and over 100 cities in China, serving 15 million customers and supporting over 2 million drivers.
