Mazda duo launched

BERMAZ Motor simultaneously launched the updated new 2018 Mazda CX-3 and Mazda6 during the official opening of its 85th outlet in George Town yesterday.

New Mazda CX-3: Retuned and refined

First introduced in Malaysia in 2015, Mazda’s award winning freestyle crossover is now updated; retuned and refined to deliver greater elegance, better driving performance and efficiency.

The 2018 Mazda CX-3 has been refreshed with subtle exterior changes, with a heightened feeling of quality and elegance, which includes a new front grille design with double chrome slats, rear tail lights redesigned with a sharper styling, and a new rim design.

In terms of interior enhancements, the CX-3 receives an updated dashboard, new red accent on the air conditioner louvers, and most remarkably – the adoption of electronic parking brake which allows for a new centre console, armrest and significantly greater storage space. Other updates include redesigned front seats for greater comfort and support, and a new rear seat centre armrest with built-in cup holders.

The crossover has improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) as improvements for sound insulation have been made with thicker door panels, outer glass and headliner door seals; resulting in a more refined and quieter cabin. In terms of vehicle dynamics enhancements, the suspension was re-tuned for a smoother ride, and the power steering and chassis recalibrated for a swifter and a more enjoyable Jinba-Ittai driving experience.

The completely built-up (CBU) CX-3 is equipped with a SkyActiv-G 2.0L petrol engine, paired with a SkyActiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift and sport modes, along with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control (GVC) technology.

The latest Mazda’s i-ActivSense dynamic safety features equipped are Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). BSM helps detect and alert drivers to the presence of vehicles in the blind spot area on either side by displaying an icon in the respective door wing mirrors. If the driver indicates to change lanes with a vehicle in the blind spot, the icon flashes and a warning beep is sounded. RCTA alerts the driver when it detects vehicles approaching from either side during reversing operations.

There are six colours to choose from – Soul Red Crystal, Ceramic Metallic, Machine Grey, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black Mica and Snowflake White Pearl.

Selling price is RM121,134 (OTR without insurance).

New 2018 Mazda6: ‘Sophisticated elegance’

The new 2018 Mazda6 was redesigned with an "added level of sophisticated elegance that complements its aspirational ambitions".

Mazda’s flagship passenger car is the perfect embodiment of Mazda’s “Kodo – Soul of Motion” design philosophy. The new 2018 Mazda6 incorporates premium details and technologies based on Mazda’s human-centric development philosophy, with every detail rethought to polish and enhance its overall appearance and performance.

The saloon is refined with significant exterior changes, with a focus on premium feel and elegance, which includes a new front grille design that highlights the depth and wide stance of the car. The 2018 Mazda6 has new sleek LED headlamps design, and a newly-designed rim. The bumper is also redesigned with air vents to improve the Mazda6’s aerodynamic performance by channelling air to the front tyres.

The rear features a new chrome finish, a new sleek and sharp rear lamp design which emphasizes a lower centre of gravity and more powerful physique, and new tailpipe design positioned closer to the outer edges of the vehicle.

In terms of interior changes, the 2018 Mazda6 also receives comprehensive interior refinements. The dashboard design has been widened to accentuate the Mazda6’s sharp lines and subtle sophistication. The Mazda Connect infotainment display has been enlarged to an eight-inch display, placed higher so for a reduced viewing angle to provide better visibility at a glance. Also, the 2018 Mazda6 now comes with a colour windshield-projection Active Driving Display.

The front seats performance has been enhanced to form a natural S-shape in the human spine and help improve comfort and reduce fatigue. Front seats have been widened to increase physical support for both driver and passenger. A USB charging point is available in the rear centre armrest in addition to the standard cup holders. Mazda designers have incorporated even more premium details to enhance the feeling of quality inside and outside of the 2018 Mazda6, adding more elegance and composure to its award-winning looks. 1 2.2L and 2.5L variants only.

Mazda continues to improve the vehicle dynamics of the Mazda6’s with redesigned suspension and reinforced chassis bracing for a smoother and more enjoyable Jinba-Ittai driving experience. NVH improvements for the Mazda6 were made with thicker door panels, outer glass, headliner, and door seals; resulting in a more refined experience befitting of a premium passenger car.

For the 2018 Mazda6, Mazda’s latest 360-degree View Monitor* is adopted; it shows all sides of the vehicle during parking and reversing manoeuvres by utilising four separate cameras to give the driver an accurate picture of the car and its surroundings.

Now equipped with an even wider range of Mazda’s i-ActivSense advanced safety technology that helps the driver identify potential risks and minimise damage or injury, the 2018 Mazda6 has Driving Attention Alert (DAA)* that “learns” the driver’s behaviour at speeds above 65km/h and warns the driver if abnormal driving patterns are detected, and Smart City Brake Support Rear (SCBS R)* helps to prevent low-speed collision when the driver is reversing. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, the driver will be alerted and brakes will be applied automatically to prevent or reduce the impact of a collision.
