BERMAZ Motor simultaneously launched the updated new 2018 Mazda CX-3 and Mazda6 during the official opening of its 85th outlet in George Town yesterday.
New Mazda CX-3: Retuned and refined
First introduced in Malaysia in 2015, Mazda’s award winning freestyle crossover is now updated; retuned and refined to deliver greater elegance, better driving performance and efficiency.
The 2018 Mazda CX-3 has been refreshed with subtle exterior changes, with a heightened feeling of quality and elegance, which includes a new front grille design with double chrome slats, rear tail lights redesigned with a sharper styling, and a new rim design.
In terms of interior enhancements, the CX-3 receives an updated dashboard, new red accent on the air conditioner louvers, and most remarkably – the adoption of electronic parking brake which allows for a new centre console, armrest and significantly greater storage space. Other updates include redesigned front seats for greater comfort and support, and a new rear seat centre armrest with built-in cup holders.
The crossover has improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) as improvements for sound insulation have been made with thicker door panels, outer glass and headliner door seals; resulting in a more refined and quieter cabin. In terms of vehicle dynamics enhancements, the suspension was re-tuned for a smoother ride, and the power steering and chassis recalibrated for a swifter and a more enjoyable Jinba-Ittai driving experience.
The completely built-up (CBU) CX-3 is equipped with a SkyActiv-G 2.0L petrol engine, paired with a SkyActiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift and sport modes, along with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control (GVC) technology.
The latest Mazda’s i-ActivSense dynamic safety features equipped are Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). BSM helps detect and alert drivers to the presence of vehicles in the blind spot area on either side by displaying an icon in the respective door wing mirrors. If the driver indicates to change lanes with a vehicle in the blind spot, the icon flashes and a warning beep is sounded. RCTA alerts the driver when it detects vehicles approaching from either side during reversing operations.
There are six colours to choose from – Soul Red Crystal, Ceramic Metallic, Machine Grey, Deep Crystal Blue, Jet Black Mica and Snowflake White Pearl.
Selling price is RM121,134 (OTR without insurance).

For the 2018 Mazda6, Mazda’s latest 360-degree View Monitor* is adopted; it shows all sides of the vehicle during parking and reversing manoeuvres by utilising four separate cameras to give the driver an accurate picture of the car and its surroundings.
Now equipped with an even wider range of Mazda’s i-ActivSense advanced safety technology that helps the driver identify potential risks and minimise damage or injury, the 2018 Mazda6 has Driving Attention Alert (DAA)* that “learns” the driver’s behaviour at speeds above 65km/h and warns the driver if abnormal driving patterns are detected, and Smart City Brake Support Rear (SCBS R)* helps to prevent low-speed collision when the driver is reversing.
