KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has given the freedom to schools including the setting up of key performance indicators (KPIs) to be implemented in their administration.
Education director-general Datuk Dr Amin Senin said that it should not cause problems to teachers since the flexibility was given by the ministry to schools since last year, that the KPIs only need to be implemented at the school level.
"The KPIs' achievement is no longer the main requirement set by MoE, only need to be implemented at the school level, in other words, there is no mandatory directive from the ministry," he said this when asked to comment on the teachers' complaints of being burdened by unreasonable KPIs requirements.
He said this after officiating the 4th International Conference on Teacher Learning and Development 2018 here today.
In the meantime, he said the Institute of Teacher Education Malaysia (IPGM) and the Institute of Teacher Education's International Languages Campus need to increase the number of credit hours as an initiative to improve English proficiency among the teachers. — Bernama
