An overwhelming Merdeka spirit

PRIME Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been a revelation and something like a godsend to Malaysians.
It is like a much awaited Merdeka gift for us. In one word, fantastic.
Many Malaysians including the intellectuals sort of feel he is the perfect choice in terms of level-minded thinking, collaboration (not his strength 20 years ago), maturity, international recognition and acceptance as a holistic leader.
He commands respect due to his knack for understanding problems facing our economy, the citizens' hardship and a "no- nonsense character".
He has matured and uses wisdom fairly to his and the nation's advantage.
His decisiveness, intellectual sarcasm, British humour and clever ability to tone the foreign media make him special and likeable.
His policies and intellectualism have made the former prime minister look like a novice. Easily, he is one of the best prime ministers globally today. We hope he sets the precedent (likely) of a new breed of smart, diligent and intelligent leaders with integrity and values. This was missing over the last decade.
Finally, in his 90s, we all know Mahathir is sacrificing for the nation. He knows we need him badly and we pray for his longevity.
Malaysians in masses are raising our national flag in anticipation of National Day this Aug 31.
Flags are raised in unprecedented fashion by the diverse spirited thousands voluntarily, as we love our nation and Mahathir, beyond words.
We salute him, be it young or old. The Merdeka spirit has never been so good.
