Fire destroys house, two cars, five motorcycles in Kepala Batas

KUALA LUMPUR: A house owner at Kampung Lahar Ikan Mati near here incurred losses of more than RM200,000 after morning fire destroyed his residence, two cars and five motorcycles yesterday.
Kepala Batas Fire and Rescue station operations officer Yusri Mansor said the station received an emergency call at 7.35am and the first fire engine arrived at the scene five minutes later.
"When the firefighters arrived, the fire was raging and parts of the house were already destroyed. There were two cars and five motorcycles parked in front of the house also destroyed in the fire," he said here yesterday.
He said the firefighters took about 20 minutes to control the fire from spreading to the adjacent house and over half an hour to put out the fire.
He said the cause of the fire was still under investigation and no casualties reported.
Meanwhile, one of the neighbours said when the incident happened, the house was empty as the owner and his family were on their way to Langkawi Island and they were believed to have left home at dawn. — Bernama
