Illegal immigrant using fake immigration stamp among 74 detained

IPOH: A Vietnamese man suspected of using fake Immigration approval stamp was among 74 illegal immigrants detained in Op Mega 3.0 here last night.
Perak Immigration director Kamalludin Ismail said the 42-year-old man was believed to have committed the offence in order to stay longer in the country.
"We will investigate further the syndicate involved, we suspect he used the Johor Immigration fake stamp in Johor Baru to leave (Malaysia) but actually he did not leave," he said in a media conference at the Home Ministry Complex here last night.
He said the 74 illegals, aged between 20 and 50, comprising Bangladeshis, Vietnamese, Myanmar and Indonesian nationals, were arrested in three locations around the city in the 'Op Mega 3.0'.
All the detained illegals would be sent to the Langkap immigration detention depot for further investigation, he said.
Kamaludin said up to August this year, the Perak Immigration Department conducted 340 operations with 1,249 illegals and 33 employers being detained. — Bernama
