Couple caned over lesbian ties

PETALING JAYA: Two women, who were charged with same-sex relations, were caned today in Terengganu.
Harian Metro today reported that the duo, aged 32 and 22, were caned this morning in front of 100 witnesses.
They were charged under the shariah court for having sex in their car on April 8, and were due to be caned last Tuesday.
The caning came despite widespread outcry against their sentencing.
The Terengganu shariah court had earlier postponed their sentencing on technical grounds.
This is the first time women have received this form of sentencing under shariah law in Terengganu.
