Soldier claims trial to misappropriating more than RM36k

KUANTAN: A soldier pleaded not guilty in the magistrate's court here today to dishonestly misappropriating RM36,113.32 belonging to a policeman.
Corporal Hafizan Mohd Norwawi, 30, who is an automotive assistant at the Batu 10 Camp here, was charged with committing the offence at the Maybank ATM in Jaya Gading Petronas station here between March 24 and April 22.
The charge, under Section 403 of the Penal Code, provides for imprisonment of up to five years and whipping, and a fine, upon conviction.
Magistrate Nor Azizah Aling set Oct 5 for mention of the case and allowed Hafizan bail of RM6,000 in one surety.
Hafizan was unrepresented while prosecuting officer inspector P. Prabu appeared for the prosecution. — Bernama
